[:gee, i’m really sorry your mom blew up, ricky:]

jesus, it’s been almost a year since i touched this thing.  then again, given the advent of the twittersphere/facespace/tiktok/whothefuckknows it’s not like i need to wax ad infinitum when clearly limiting my brain to 140 characters or a cat video will do.

here we are.  again.  i felt the need to do it this way, if only to expound upon the rambling monkeys that live in my head. plus, i’m like SUPER BORED.

so i can’t say too much, because i had to sign my unborn child away in order to get my severance package, but i can least talk about what’s public; the company wanted to have an IPO offering this year but didn’t meet sales targets.  we were pulled into a meeting last week, and the minute I saw the VP and HR, I knew; this isn’t my first time around

going on faith that I wasn’t singled out – a) the VP is super shook up by it, b) from the looks of the list of those affected it ranged across all groups and all levels including the CEO and COO, and c) i swear to god i heard the Rains of Castamere playing, i’m not that angry.

I mean I should be, right?  more than one person has asked me “why haven’t you picked up the building with your rage and smashed people with it already.”  on the plus side, my friends know me so well.  but on the other side, i’m actually happy.

i’ve been burnt out for a while now; so much so that even my beloved hobby of Warhammer and going to tournaments and seeing all my friends (of which there are a ton of, because clearly you people are all monsters) didn’t interest me.  I was also giving the bare minimum of effort in looking for a new position in New York anyway.

so what does it all mean?  from a cosmic perspective, don’t kill yourselves working for a company that has no compunction about firing employees two weeks before christmas.  from a personal perspective, i’m now free to take care of everything I was unable to while burnt out.

although, to be honest, my house has never smelled so lemony fresh and i’m kinda ok with this.

a long, long time ago i believed in the below.  when i was young, idealistic, had a lot more hair and less tattoos.  you know, like when i was 12.  but i’m trying to get back to this.  just…with more tattoos.

“to be truly free, truly free, you cannot change your cage. You have to change yourself. When I used to look out at this world, all I could see was its edges, its boundaries, its leaders and laws. But now, I see another world. A different world where all things are possible.”

to infinity and beyond, bitches
